Moravian instruments on MSV 2007 Engineering Fair
An overview of new products exhibited on MSV 2007 Engineering Fair.

The Moravian Instruments booth was in Hall C on the same place like in previous years, so it could be easily fond.

Our new product Control Web version 6 reached the stage of final testing, just before releasing of the final version. Public beta version was available on CD-ROM for all interested customers. In addition to all new features the core of Control Web 6 contains all fixes provided by latest Control Web 5 service packs, so its stability should be on a very good level from the beginning.

But the new version of Control Web was not the only new product introduced on the fair. New series of precision industrial digital cameras DataCam was also shown for the first time here. DataLab cameras provide very easy integration of image processing into industrial applications. They also provide exceptionally high image quality, high dynamic range and low noise. Image processing on the host PC utilizing GPGPU (General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit) computing is also revolutionary and unique—it allows very complex operations provided on high-resolution images in real time.

Very high image quality of DataCam cameras is achieved not only by direct digital connection between the camera and host PC (there is no analog TV signal converted to digital form by some image grabber in the PC), but also by DataCam ability to provide raw data for subsequent image processing. Wast majority of digital cameras contain integrated camera controller, which not only digitizes pixels read from CCD, but also interpolates colors from Bayer mask and performs lossy compression into MPEG4 data stream. The resulting image quality is always negatively affected especially due to lossy compression, low dynamic range and limited resources and computational power available in camera controllers. DataCam frames are digitized with full 16 bit precision to maintain highest dynamic range and transferred into the computer over fast USB 2.0 High Speed connection (up to 480 Mbit/s) in the uncompressed form and then processed by the CPU or GPU without any compromises between image quality and data flow. Image processing software the can rely on every pixel of every frame.

Biological aerosol warning and reconnaissance system PAVLA demonstrated the ability of Moravian Instruments to develop and integrate top-class technology into stand-alone, embedded devices. PAVLA combines electronics, optics, mechanics and software into complex distributed system. PAVLA is in fact a third generation of this system, but we had a chance to show the working satellite to the public for the first time.
