New Analog Input/Output Module for DataLab IO
Our customers feedback resulted into construction of the new precision analog input/output module, which combines 16-bit analog inputs (functionally identical to the AI3 module) and 12-bit analog outputs (functionally identical to the AO1 module). The new AIO1 module offers “one half” of each module—4 input and 4 output analog channels.

Although the combined module AD2 offers (beside 4 analog inputs) 2 analog output channels, only 8-bit resolution of these analog outputs can be insufficient in some precision-demanding applications. This is why the proven analog input part (already used in AD1 and AD2 modules) was complemented with analog output part with 12-bit D/A converter, identical to the AO1 module. Because the AIO1 module contains only 4 output channels (compared to 8 output channels of the AO1 module), it was possible to implement current output mode with range 0 to 20 mA on all 4 channels. The voltage output mode with range 0 to 10 V is also available on all 4 outputs, of course.

For detailed description od all DataLab IO modules see the hardware documentation and DataLab IO driver documentation.

Remark:

Driver version 2.2 and higher must be used to work with new AIO1 module. Earlier drivers do not support these modules.
